ABOUT

Jeremy Earnest is a South Indian-American composer and multi-instrumentalist based in Los Angeles originally from Reading, PA. His music is known to fuse traditional western orchestral music, Indian Classical music, jazz, and modern sound design.

Jeremy’s musical career started off as a performing keyboardist, guitarist, and bass guitarist touring around the world for over 10 years with acclaimed Indian artists like Dr. L. Subramaniam, Dr. K. J. Yesudas, K.S. Chitra, Kavitha Krishnamoorthy, Jeffrey Iqbal, Abby V, and many others.

Before moving to Los Angeles, he studied with Pulitzer Prize-winning composer Kevin Puts (Silent Night, The Hours, Contact) at the Peabody Institute of Music. It was there that he discovered his love for collaborating with talented artists, writing in different genres, and telling impactful stories through music. He served as music director for The Octopodes, formed a unique Indian jazz fusion band called Phantasia, served as composer in residence at First and Franklin Presbyterian Church, and collaborated with countless musicians and singers in a variety of different genres. He has been the recipient of many accolades, some of which include first place in the Composer’s Choice Competition for his score to the animated short “Fetch,” second place in the Prix D’Été composition competition his piece piece “Life Cycles” for solo cello and nine string players, and a CARA Award for his a cappella arrangement for “Change of Heart.”

He recently graduated from the University of Southern California Screen Scoring Master’s Program, where he was awarded the Harry Warren Scholarship as well as the Joe and Alice Harnell Scholar for Screen Scoring Award at the culmination of the program.
